Cycling 4 Peace Saturday Sept 13, 2014
“Peace” begins within each person and emanates into their life, their affairs and their world. Science has shown that working “not” to be a thing is more difficult than working “to be” a thing. The phrases “non-violence” and “stop the violence” have been used as verbal assaults against violence reduction for years. Both Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. utilized the idea of “non-violence”, as a foundation to rise up against oppression and violence inflicted by a government. Our Chicago scenario is one, which the violence is generated from within the community on the community. A lasting resolution is not to just promote an idea of not being violent, but also, encourage and support an all-encompassing idea of “Peace”. Furthermore, the solution must emanate from the people within the affected communities. The Cycling4Peace ride and “You Make the Difference” Peace Rally promote uniting community-centered solutions, with public and private support. We ride: to raise awareness, dollars and support for the Peace Movement.
We ride: to raise seed dollars for a Center for Peaceful Resolution on the Southside of Chicago.
This “Peace” center will work within our community collaborating, developing innovative strategies, ongoing initiatives and implementing best practices promoting “Peace”. Simple but yet profound expectations
- Move the energy from “Stop” to “Start”.
- Sow a seed of “belief” that “Peace” is possible
- Personally challenge self:
- “How do I contribute to Peace? “
- “What will I do to promote Peace?”
- “How can I do more?”
Donate to support people committed to strengthening the Peace Dialog & Supporting Actions, in a city with a dynamic need for "Peace".
“Your participation makes the difference”
